Soil Sustainability 2.0 - Organic Matter, Water Retention & Nutrients

The Soil Sustainability 2.0 program builds from the initial Soils program titled Back to the Basics.  How does organic matter affect water holding capacity in soil?  Does an increase in organic matter increase the soil’s ability to retain water for crops?  Is there such a thing as too much organic matter in soil?

In this non-credit program we will discuss how organic matter can contribute to plant growth, the importance of organic matter in nutrient management and water retention, and take a deep dive into how organic matter is created, as well as ways you can increase your soil’s organic matter through your farm management practices.
