International Faculty Visiting USI
Invitations to visiting international faculty to conduct teaching or research at the University of Southern Indiana must be approved by the department chair and dean of the college. Specific details concerning the visiting faculty member's responsibilities, term of appointment and benefits provided by USI should be determined before a formal invitation is issued. Please consult with the Center for International Programs to determine if the visiting scholar qualifies for a J-1 exchange visitor visa, and what category of the J-1 program will be used.
Once the details have been approved, a letter of invitation from the dean is sent to the visiting professor, along with the J-1 Scholar Information Form available from the Center for International Programs. The completed form should be returned to the Center for International Programs at least two months prior to the date the visiting scholar plans to arrive in the U.S. International Programs will issue the DS-2019 form, which the visiting scholar uses to obtain a J-1 exchange visitor visa.
