Faculty presentation: Dr. Daria Sevastianova. Sevastianova presented "Introduction to Globalization" to engineering students. Her perspectives reinforce the importance of cross-disciplinary collaboration and the connections between business and engineering.
Faculty presentation: Dr. Curt Gilstrap, assistant professor of business communication. Gilstrap was the presenter for USI's Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Workshop, required for programs supporting research training, career development, or research education.

Faculty achievement: Dr. Perry Burnett, associate professor of economics. Burnett's article, Overpopulation, Optimal City Size and the Efficiency of Urban Sprawl, was one of Review of Urban & Regional Development Studies most frequently downloaded articles in the 12 months after online publication.
Faculty publication: Dr. Sherif Rashad, associate professor of computer science. His paper titled, “Behavior-Based Security for Mobile Devices using Machine Learning” has been accepted for publication in the International Journal of Artificial Intelligence & Applications.
Faculty publication: Dr. Dinko Bačić, assistant professor of computer information systems. His paper, “Biometrics & Business Information Visualization: Re-search Review, Agenda & Opportunities” was accepted to HCI International, a leading Human-Computer Interaction conference and will be published in Springer Computer Science Lecture Notes. This paper is important for the UPCI Lab as it creates a platform/research agenda well aligned with lab mission and technology.
Faculty presentation: Virginia Weiler, instructor in marketing. Weiler presented, "Going Paperless and Increasing Retention in University Undergraduates: Blackboard as a Retention Tool in a Traditional Classroom Setting," at the BbWorld 2018 Conference in Orlando, which is Blackboard's annual conference.
Faculty presentation: Dr. Mary Ann Shifflet, assistant professor of economics. She presented a paper titled, "Improving Quality Improvement in Public Health" at the 12th International Conference on Health Care Systems at Harlaxton College in Grantham, England.
Faculty Publication and Conference: Dr. Dinko Bačić. Bačić presented a paper at the Americas Conference on Information Systems, one of the leading conferences for presenting the broadest variety of research done by and for IS/IT academicians in the Western Hemisphere. His work will be published in AMCIS 2019 Conference Proceedings.
Faculty presentation: Dr. Brett Bueltel, assistant professor of accounting. Bueltel was the speaker at the September lunch meeting of the Evansville chapter of Institute of Management Accountants (IMA). The title of his presentation was, "Tax Cuts and Job Acts Update.

She was also the keynote speaker at Camp Economics in Santa Claus, Indiana, where she presented Trade War: What Is It Good For?
Faculty appointment: Dr. Marie Bussing, assistant professor of economics, was appointed to the Federal Reserve Educational Advisory Board, Louisville Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis.
Faculty Presentation: Dr. Khaled Elkhal, associate professor of finance, presented, "When Business Risk is High, Managers Want to Borrow, Creditors Refuse to Lend?" at the Academy of Finance, MBAA International Conference in Chicago.
Faculty presentation: Dr. Andrew Dill, assistant professor of accounting, presented, "The Theory of Unintended Amoral Behavior: The Effect of Bounded Ethicality on Managerial Decision-Making Under System 1 and System 2 Thinking" at the 2018 American Accounting Association Annual Conference.
Faculty publication and presentation: Dr. Srishti Srivastava, assistant professor of computer science. Her research article titled “PEPA Based Performance Modeling for Robust Resource Allocations Amid Varying Processor Availability”, has been published in IEEE Xplore in Proceeding of the IEEE International Symposium on Parallel and Distributed Computing (ISPDC). She also presented this work at the conference held in Geneva, Switzerland.
Faculty presentation: Dr. Peggy Shields, associate professor of marketing, presented, "Internet Apparel Purchases: An Update" and "The Performing Arts and U.S. Young Adults" at the European Institute of Retailing and Services Studies 25th Conference in Madeira Island, Portugal.

Clayton presented at the Organization for the Study of Communication, Language, and Gender 2018 conference in South Lake Tahoe, CA. Her presentation was titled, "Examining the Marginalization of the Birth Mother in Adoption Narratives."
Faculty presentation: Mr. Tim Bryan, instructor in accounting, presented his dissertation proposal, "Accounting Conservatism or Earnings Manipulation: A Study of the Allowance for Doubtful Accounts and Bad Debt Expense," at the Engaged Management Scholarship Conference at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA, as well as at the conference poster session.
Faculty presentation: Dr. Khaled Elkhal, associate professor of finance. Elkhal presented, "Resurrection of Capital Asset Pricing Models: A Practical Test with Active Management Approach" at the Financial Management Association conference, in San Diego, CA.

Bačić's publication, "Task-representation fit's impact on cognitive effort in the context of decision timeliness and accuracy: a cognitive perspective," has been accepted in the AIS Transactions on Human-Computer Interaction journal.
Faculty presentation: Dr. Jill Oeding, assistant professor of business law, was the presenter for the ethics session at the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA)-Evansville Chapter. Attendees at her session earned continuing professional education (CPE) credit.

Dr. Abbas Foroughi, professor of computer information systems and chair of management and information sciences; Dr. Mohammed Khayum, USI Interim Provost; and Dr. Jack Smothers, associate professor of management and MBA director, co-authored "Principle-Based MBA Course Design." Foroughi presented it at the 2018 DSI Annual Meeting in the Innovative Education and Teaching: Course Design and Assessment Session, in Chicago, IL.
