For specific hours for the HRL office, Community Center and C-Store during holidays, days with no classes and other University closings, please visit Housing and Residence Life. The website is updated regularly to reflect special hours.

2022

• May 1 - Deadline to cancel 2022-23 housing contract without penalty
• May 30 - Memorial Day - USI closed, no classes
• June 6-17 - Select your bed space during your assigned appointment time online. Information about room selection will be sent to student USI email accounts.
• July 4 - Fourth of July - USI closed, no classes
• July 15 - Room notification - assignments and roommate information available on the Housing portal
• July 20 - Sign up form to reserve move in date and time available on the Housing portal
• August 13-14 - Early move in for approved students. Early move in is for students who need to move in early for a University-sponsored activity or program. Students will sign up online for a move in day and time.
• August 17 - Housing check in for TLC students, new incoming freshmen and new transfer students. Students will sign up online for a move in day and time based on their classification.
• August 18 - Housing check in for new incoming freshmen and new transfer students. Students will sign up online for a move in day and time based on their classification.
• August 19-21 - Housing check in for returning students and those unable to move in August 17-18. Students will sign up online for a move in day and time based on their classification.
• August 22 - First day of fall semester
• September 5 - Labor Day - USI closed, No classes
• September 13 - Assessment Day - No classes
• October 10-11 - Fall Break - Students do not have to leave housing during fall break
• November 23-27 - Thanksgiving Break - USI closed, no classes; students do not have to leave housing during this break
• December 1 - Housing application and contract for 2023-2024 will be available on the Housing portal
• December 9 - Last day to sign up to stay during winter break; residents with permanent residences in Vanderburgh, Warrick, Posey, Gibson, Henderson (KY), White (IL), or Gallatin (IL) counties are not eligible to stay after the December 16 deadline
• December 16 - University housing closes to residents for winter break
• December 23-January 2 - Winter Break - USI closed including the HRL office, Community Center and C-Store

2023

• January 6 - Students can return to housing on or after this date
• January 9 - Spring semester begins
• January 16 - Martin Luther King, Jr. Day - No classes
• March 6-10 - Spring Break - Students do not have to leave housing during spring break
• End of March - Room selection for returning students for the 2023-2024 academic year. Current residents can reserve their room during this time. An email with exact dates will be sent out prior to room selection.
• March 28 - Assessment Day - No classes
• April 1 - Housing contract for summer available on the Housing portal
• April 7 - University Holiday - USI closed, no classes
• April 8 - HRL, Community Center and C-Store closed
• May 1 - Deadline to cancel 2023-24 housing contract without penalty
• May 5 - Last day of spring 2023 semester
• May 5 - University housing closes to residents
• May 29 - Memorial Day - USI closed, no classes
• July 4 - Fourth of July - USI closed, no classes
