"Spaced Out"

Digital, Illustration, Photoshop

Artist Statement: Being a female with ADHD and anxiety my inspiration for this piece was trying to demonstrate what it feels like to have this disorder. I often find myself zoning out of subjects or topics I should be focusing on but cannot because my brain is constantly going or worrying about something else. Which as you can guess causes me to overthink even more. For me "spacing out" is a way I can gather my thoughts even when I feel as if I am drowning in responsibilities. I know I am not the only person that struggles with these issues so I thought this would be an interesting and welcoming way to let others know that they are not alone. I started this piece having absolutely no clue with where it was going to end. I eventually just let go and ran with different styles and techniques some of which I have never tried before. This piece to me relates to space because I feel as if the universe is this abundance of a void we truly have not yet figured out. This reminds me of our brains and how much we have yet to figure out about ourselves and our peers. We often do not know what others are going through or experiencing. This piece to me represents how space and our brains go hand and hand, and we will never truly know EVERYTHING about the two. All we can do is simply try and understand what we do know.
