The Romain College of Business has received accreditation for its business and accounting programs from AACSB International, the world’s largest and longest-serving accrediting body for business schools. Receiving accreditation from AACSB requires institutions to complete a rigorous process ensuring alignment with 15 business standards and delivery of the best in business education. Of the nearly 1,700 member institutions, USI is one of less than 200 to have earned both an accreditation of business programs and a supplemental accreditation of accounting programs.
At Romain College, 100 percent of our classes are taught by faculty.

An entrepreneurial mindset is fostered and encouraged. Students of all disciplines can earn a minor in entrepreneurship; it changes how people in many different fields look at things. Startup Weekend Evansville is one of the opportunities USI shares with students and the region to foster entrepreneurial education, collaboration and creativity.
The award-winning Business and Engineering Center was designed to promote collaboration and support integration between business, technology, and engineering with a goal of increasing innovation and entrepreneurship. Amenities include a computer lab for student use, a Stock Market Lab, an Interactive Sales Lab, an Experimental Economics Lab, a Strategic Social Media Lab, and a Cybersecurity Lab.
Through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program (VITA), accounting students in the Romain College provide free federal and state income tax preparation. In VITA programs, the IRS partners with national and local organizations to provide tax services to individuals with low-to-moderate income at no cost to the taxpayer. USI students provide this valuable community service to more than 100 taxpayers each season.
The Romain College of Business Speaker Series enriches the educational experience of students at the University and residents of surrounding areas. The College sponsors speakers who provide insights on entrepreneurship, innovation, leadership, and excellence in the business world. Past speakers include legendary entrepreneur Mr. T. Boone Pickens, former chairman of the Federal Reserve Mr. Ben Bernanke, Uber co-founder Mr. Oscar Salazar, and General Colin L. Powell, USA (Ret.). These engagements are events for the campus and the community.
USI ranks in the top five for Certified Management Accountant (CMA®) exam success. According to Strategic Finance, USI’s overall pass rate ranked among the top five at 92%—well above the overall pass rate of 58%.
At Romain College, women are empowered to excel in traditionally male-dominated fields like economics and computer science. Female economics students are encouraged to attend the Women in Economics Symposium held annually at the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. Computer science faculty co-lead the Girls Who Code club at USI. Girls Who Code is a national non-profit working to close the gender gap in technology and is the movement to inspire, educate, and equip young women with the computing skills to pursue 21st century opportunities.
Whether competing on the state, national or international stage, students on business case teams consistently bring home impressive results. All business majors can find a place in a team competition. These competitions inspire university students to strive for the highest levels of critical thinking and professionalism. An impressive record of successes showcases the value of a business degree from the Romain College; likewise, competitors consistently rate the experience as giving them a leading edge in landing good jobs.
Currently, USI is one of only two universities to have placed first 5 times in the national Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) held annually in cities across the United States.
The International Summer University is a 3.5-week long academic and cultural program at the University of Applied Sciences in Osnabrück, Germany, attended by international students and faculty. USI offers this sister-city partnership in collaboration with other participating schools. More than 100 students from the College have attended since it began in 2011, with many calling it a life-changing experience.
Students from all majors practice their speaking and communications skills in a friendly, comfortable environment when they participate in USI Speaking Eagles Toastmasters. Professionals volunteer to attend each weekly meeting to coach, provide constructive criticism, and talk about how communication impacts their organization.
