Dean's Remarks

Dear Colleagues, Students, Alumni and Friends of the Romain College of Business,

The first six months of 2022 may have been difficult for the stock market and cryptocurrencies, but these same six months have been very successful for the Romain College of Business.  By reading this newsletter, you will see our students and faculty have enjoyed many achievements during the Spring 2022 Semester.

Meet Dr. Sudesh Mujumdar

Dr. Sudesh Mujumdar has accepted the position of Dean of the Romain College of Business at the University of Southern Indiana. Mujumdar has served as Dean of the College of Business Administration at Savannah State University in Savannah, Georgia, since September 2019. Prior to his Deanship at Savannah State University, Mujumdar served as Chair for the Economics and Marketing Department in USI’s Romain College of Business where he led the innovative rethinking of programs and initiatives for enrollment growth and community impact by fostering a supportive and inspiring work environment.

Steve "The Woz" Wozniak, co-founder of Apple computer, took an awed audience on a whirlwind tour of his life, all without leaving Screaming Eagles Arena. Wozniak is the fifth speaker in the Romain College of Business Innovative Speaker Series.

Romain College of Business Receives $100,000 Endowment for Student Scholarship Support

Barry Cox, President of Warehouse Services, Inc., recently made a $100,000 gift to the Romain College of Business to establish a scholarship endowment for students enrolled in the College's Supply Chain Management Certificate program. This new gift will provide perpetual scholarship support for eligible students.

Students competed in a data analytics and research event designed to help them solve real-world problems. The USI team focused on quantitative and qualitative data, which the judges selected as the strongest presentation.

USI AMA Club Attends International Collegiate Conference in Chicago

President Courtney Bourne writes about club members' experience attending the first conference as an AMA collegiate chapter. More than 40 chapters from across the United States attended the four-day event.

Seniors Isaac Hopf and Logan Oakley were recognized with USI Endeavor Awards for innovative thinking in the development of their gaming projects.


Screaming Eagles to Hoosiers-Accounting Graduates to Attend IU McKinney School of Law

Two accounting graduates of Romain College of Business, David Bradley '22 and Luke Blackburn '20, are recipients of prestigious scholarships to Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law.


Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence is exploding exponentially in every field, and the Romain College offers courses in AI, machine learning and business intelligence. CIS instructor Kasra Pourang lends his technological expertise inside the classroom and outside into the community.
