Cyber Security Certificate

Forecasts in the job market for positions in cybersecurity suggest there will be a big demand for Information Security Analysts well into the foreseeable future.

• Cybersecurity talent gaps exist across the country. There is currently one person available for every eight job postings for cybersecurity analysts (www.cyberseek.org).
• Employment is projected to grow 31 percent between 2019 and 2029, much faster than the average for all occupations (bls.gov).
• Median annual salary for cybersecurity analysts was $103,590 in 2020 (bls.gov).

The scope of cybersecurity is vast and job roles and titles can be quite diverse. The study of cybersecurity gives you the opportunity to pursue many different areas of specialization. Some widely recognized job titles include:

Cyber Security Operations Center

The Romain College of Business houses a fully functional Cyber Security Operations Center (SOC). Analysts in the lab monitor systems and identify and isolate threats. As a student pursuing the certificate, you are eligible to work as an analyst in the SOC. You make money while gaining real-world experience, all the while helping to protect the USI campus.
