Capstone Projects

Students practice what they learn and put their skills to the test where they excel in competitions. Class projects team up students with area organizations to assess and solve the business and technology needs of the client.

Why choose a degree in CIS at USI Romain College of Business?

Take a look at these real-world projects:

I-69 Innovation Corridor and Imagination Portal
Seniors in CIS 477 engaged in an experiential learning class designed to connect USI students with the community. The class was divided into two teams and assisted with website development and project management, all while gaining real-life experience.

The teams worked with real clients. The collaborations resulted in a website for I-69 Innovation Corridor and Imagination Portal, a web-based platform to help generate and create innovative ideas. This initial design will be the starting point for next semester's seniors, who will continue to refine the portal solution.

COLAB
CIS 477 Senior Project students applied their knowledge and used their skills to launch a project called COLAB, a website used by students at a university in North Carolina. The website allows students to collect, aggregate, and distribute data, then run their own analytics.

Student teams also presented their project outcomes to the IT Alliance advisory board.

Franklin Street Events Association
For their senior project, CIS students teamed up with client Franklin Street Events Association to redesign and launch an interactive website. This not only changed the way the Evansville business conducts its business, but the project garnered the students national awards at the annual Information Systems Project and Case Competition.
