USI students, alumni, retirees, faculty and staff with an @eagles.usi.edu email address are able to log into the RAVE Guardian app. Faculty and staff will have accounts connected through their @eagles.usi.edu address to the app even though they do not use this email address on a daily basis.
No. The app will have an inbox to receive Rave Alerts from USI Public Safety, but phone, email and SMS alerts will continue to be available. In fact, we encourage you to enable multiple delivery options for Rave Alerts in myUSI in order to ensure you see timely alerts.
No. Alongside ensuring your safety, maintaining privacy is our highest priority. The Rave Guardian app will only report your location to Public Safety in the event of an emergency if you have location services enabled on your device. Additionally, your designated Guardian will only have access to your profile and location if a Safety Timer is set up with them as the recipient.
Anyone you desire. Guardians do not have to be USI-affiliated, and can be any individual you designate and assign as such within the app.
No. The only person notified when a Safety Timer expires is your designated Guardian. Your Guardian has the option to contact USI Public Safety when a timer expires, but that decision is at the discretion of the Guardian.
Yes. Timers can be set anywhere. Certain features of the app, such as the ability to initiate chats with Public Safety, are only available within the designated campus radius or two other locations at USI sites in downtown Evansville and New Harmony, Indiana. Users must manually choose these locations under Settings. In the event of an emergency off-campus, you should dial 9-1-1.
Yes. In addition to the main campus, students, faculty and staff located in New Harmony, Indiana and/or the Stone Center will have access to the full suite of RAVE Guardian features tailored to their location. Users will have to manually select their location within the app settings, and only one location can be active at a given time.
If desired. When initiating a chat with USI Public Safety, users will have the option to “Go Anonymous”. When this option is triggered, USI Public Safety will not receive any identifiable information when the chat is initiated. However, if the user is away from their device after an anonymous chat session is initiated, USI Public Safety will not have means to contact the user outside of the app.
No. As long as your phone has access to either the iOS App Store or Google Play Store, you are able to download and use the app.
