Tour Information
Historic New Harmony conducts guided tours starting from the Atheneum Visitors Center at 1:00 p.m. C.T. Tuesday-Sunday, March 15 - October 31.
For the months of November and December, tours are only given at 1:00 p.m. C.T. on the weekend (Saturday and Sunday). The Atheneum is closed on the following days: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, the day after Christmas, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, and Easter.

The Atheneum Visitor Center will be closed starting December 18 and will reopen on March 1st. Daily 1 p.m. tours will resume on March 15, 2023.
Tour tickets may be purchased at the Atheneum Visitors Center, 401 N. Arthur St. (corner of North and Arthur Streets). Information on ticket sales and scheduling tours can be obtained by calling 812-682-4488.
Tours include an orientation film at the Atheneum/Visitors Center, Atheneum exhibits, special programming (if available) and access to numerous historic sites and special exhibits. Visitors should set aside approximately two hours for a typical tour.
Pricing
Tours are $15 for adults, $12 for senior adults (60 years-old and up), $5 for children aged six to seventeen, and complimentary for children under age six. Non-USI students can show a College I.D. and take a tour for $5. Discounts are available for AAA members, members of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, and students. A family ticket (members residing in the same household) is available for $30. Complimentary tours are available to students, faculty, and staff of the University of Southern Indiana and to residents of New Harmony. Identification will be requested.
Tours of the Atheneum which includes the watching the film and several exhibits are available to the public through a donation.
Ask about Historic New Harmony special programming. Special programming, if available, is included with the guided walking tours or can be purchased separately.
Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. *this policy complies with the University of Southern Indiana's Child Protection Policy.
Information for Groups
Historic New Harmony will gladly customize a tour for a group’s interest and schedule. The history of New Harmony, its architecture, early community living, Victorian life, and geology are just a few of the topics that can be interpreted by our trained staff. Tours can be adapted to meet the needs of various age groups. Guided walking tours are available, as well as “step-on” or tour bus/van-based guided tours. For “step-on” tours, a trained interpreter will join guests on their tour bus, which can either stop at a number of historic sites or merely tour past them.
