Email Add-Ins

Scammers are now using roundabout ways to hack into your email. When the scammers get an email and password, they can add an "Add-In" to read and write from your email. This is especially scary, because they will retain this power even if you change your password! You can make sure you are safe by checking to see if there are any current Add-Ins on your email by following the steps below:

  1. Click on the settings icon.
  2. Click on View all Outlook settings.
  3. Go to Mail.
  4. Click on Customize actions.
  5. Scroll to the bottom and check Get Add-ins under Message surface and Toolbar.

  6. Close out and select an email.
  7. Click on the ellipse.
  8. Click Get Add-ins
  9. Go to My add-ins. Remove any that you do not recognize, to remove click on the ellipse then click on remove. Admin managed add-ins are safe to keep.
