A Positive Approach® to Dementia Care: Time to Reflect and Recover
Wednesday, August 10, 2022
9 am-2:30 pm CT
Carter Hall, University of Southern Indiana

What has changed for ourselves and others over the past two and a half years? How can we most effectively recover and move forward? We have all learned many lessons over the course of the pandemic, and it is now time for an honest assessment the current status of dementia care. Through Teepa Snow's engaging teaching style, direct care providers will learn about the ways that prolonged stress affects themselves and those living with brain change. Learners will also explore strategies and techniques that can effectively assess current ability states and support maintenance of function.

Contact Hours: Attendees will receive up to 4.5 contact hours with registration, check in at registration desk, attendance at 90% of program and completed program evaluation.

Teepa Snow will present the MAIA Pre-Conference Workshops for direct care providers who care for persons with dementia and/or Alzheimer’s disease. Teepa’s philosophy is based on years of medical research and her background in occupational therapy. Her presentations give participants a hands-on opportunity to try out new caregiving skills in a safe, engaging environment on the campus of the University of Southern Indiana.

The Pre-Conference Workshop is supported by the USI Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Program (GWEP) and is part of the annual Mid-America Institute on Aging and Wellness, presented by USI and SWIRCA & More.
