Building a Dementia-Competent Workforce

A collaboration between the University of Southern Indiana GWEP
and Teepa Snow's
 Positive Approach® to Care (PAC)

In 2018, the University of Southern Indiana’s Center for Healthy Aging and Wellness received a $789,800 grant from the Indiana State Department of Health to fund dementia care training for nursing home staff members in Indiana. The project, Building a Dementia-Competent Nursing Home Workforce with PAC, was a collaboration with Teepa Snow to improve the lives of people living with dementia and transform the culture of dementia care. A part of this project included the development of a nursing home staff orientation covering dementia care.

The USI Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Program (GWEP) is offering this free new employee orientation for nursing homes in Indiana. If you would like access to the dementia curriculum for your staff, complete the form below, and a USI point person will grant you access to the materials.
