Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Health Informatics and Information Management program will enjoy opportunities to conduct real-life, hands-on studies that will involve system modeling, workflow analysis, service innovations and project implementation provided by regional hospitals, clinical centers, and other healthcare organizations.
Entry Level 4-Year Plan
The Bachelor of Science in Informatics and Information Management program consists of 120 credit hours of coursework leading to a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Informatics and Information Management (HIIM). The program includes 40 credit hours from University core courses, 18 credit hours of required pre-admission courses, 48 credit hours of required HIIM courses, one general elective at any level (3 credit hours) and six credit hours selected from elective course offerings at 300-400 level.
Degree Completion
The online degree completion program allows earning a Bachelor of Science in HIIM through 100 percent online coursework. Students in the degree completion program will be required to complete one hundred twenty (120) credit hours to earn the BSHIIM. Students will be required to complete thirty (30) Health Informatics and Information Management credit hours of discipline-specific courses, plus complete the required number of credit hours in prerequisite and/or core courses required by the University. The average time for full-time students will be 1-2 years. Degree completion students must earn a total of 30 hours of credit from USI to satisfy requirements for a baccalaureate degree.
