Heather Vaught '10, Art Using her passion for design and stationery, Heather Vaught began designing print goods that showcase her love of her hometown of Evansville, Indiana. Her success led her to open River City Coffee + Goods, a gift shop promoting over 100 local makers and independent brands. She also is involved in civic work with the Downtown Economic Improvement District, Downtown Design Review, Preservation Alliance of Evansville and now sits as a commissioner for the Evansville Redevelopment Commission. |

While women and men are equally represented in many majors and careers, economics is a social science that has a gender problem. Women major in economics and go into careers in economics at 30% rate of men. The problem is greater for minority women, who account for 10% or less. Why is gender inequality so severe and persistent in economics? What is being done to address the issue? Have we made improvements? Join Dr. Daria to learn about these topics and USI’s Women in Economics Club, and meet Jailine, who will share her pathbreaking work to improve diversity and equity in economics.
