The Romain College of Business is pleased to participate in Women's Entrepreneurship Week, an initiative held across universities nationwide.

In celebration of the entrepreneurial spirit, business professionals will be on the University's campus sharing their expertise at the following events*:

Mascoe approaches real estate the same way she approaches her philanthropy. She wants to help everyone around her live their best life. So whether it’s providing a free education to children in Haiti or it's finding her clients the perfect home, as a female entrepreneur she's been given a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of those around her locally and internationally.

Using her passion for design and stationery, Heather Vaught began designing print goods that showcase her love of her hometown of Evansville, Indiana. Her success led her to open River City Coffee + Goods, a gift shop promoting over 100 local makers and independent brands. She also is involved in civic work with the Downtown Economic Improvement District, Downtown Design Review, Preservation Alliance of Evansville and now sits as a commissioner for the Evansville Redevelopment Commission.

Often, business owners have to wear many hats including building their website. However, creating your website to give your business a digital face does not have to be as overwhelming. This workshop is designed for small business owners who are faced with the difficult task of having to build their website. A website is one of your biggest marketing tools for your business and every small business needs one. Whether you already have a website for your business, haven’t created one yet, or think your website needs improvement, this workshop will be valuable. You’ll learn how to create, organize, optimize, improve, and manage your website and walk away with tools and resources to help your website meet its purpose.

While women and men are equally represented in many majors and careers, economics is a social science that has a gender problem. Women major in economics and go into careers in economics at 30% rate of men. The problem is greater for minority women, who account for 10% or less. Why is gender inequality so severe and persistent in economics? What is being done to address the issue? Have we made improvements? Join Dr. Daria to learn about these topics and USI’s Women in Economics Club, and meet Jailine, who will share her pathbreaking work to improve diversity and equity in economics.

Entrepreneur is one of the most popular words in any language. However, like many terms that have “buzzword status” It is rife with misconceptions that contribute to entrepreneurial failure. Since women (and men) become entrepreneurs to take control of their lives, learn how to be a “luck maker” – that is, learn how to think like a successful entrepreneur.
