The Pott College of Science, Engineering, and Education is proud of the academic achievements of our students. Here is a brief overview of each academic achievement:
Student Excellence Award
The Pott College of Science, Engineering, and Education Student Excellence Awards were established to recognize students who have made a significant impact within organizations in the areas of leadership, service, and dedication. The Leadership Award was established to identify a student who has made a significant impact within a student organization. The intent of this award is to recognize and encourage outstanding leadership within a student organization. The Service Award was established to identify a student organization that has made a significant impact within the campus or community. The intent of this award is to recognize and encourage outstanding service by a student organization. The Dedication Award was established to identify a student who has not served in a leadership role, but who has committed time and energy to make an impact on the University Community on behalf of his/her/their organization. The intent of this award is to recognize and encourage outstanding dedication by a student within an organization.
Barnett Award
Named for Victor H. and Elizabeth Barnett, this award is a great research opportunity for a student and faculty mentor to participate in at the beginning of the spring semester. This award supports undergraduate research and will provide students, in good standing, the opportunity to submit a research proposal in collaboration with a sponsoring faculty member. The research award is $1,000.
Distinguished Graduate Awards
The Pott College of Science, Engineering, and Education Distinguished Graduate Awards were established to reward graduating students on their academic success. Each of the Pott College Departments is responsible for nominating students in each major who have shown outstanding academic success. One nominee from each department is selected as the overall Department Distinguished Graduate.
IACTE Outstanding Future Educator Award
Indiana Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (IACTE) is a professional organization of colleges and universities with undergraduate and/or graduate programs to prepare professional educators. It is an affiliate of the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE). This award is for students preparing for careers as teachers. They were chosen for the Outstanding Future Educator Award based on recommendations made by faculty in the USI Department of Teacher Education, and University student teaching supervisors.
