Testimonials

Historic Southern Indiana has helped Perry County through its work on the Ohio River Scenic By Way. Travelers come for all around the Midwest traveling the by way. Signage provided and marketing help promote the valley along the Ohio River.

The help Historic Southern Indiana provides to the Southern Indiana Regional Marketing Co. is invaluable. Their help allows us to use the limited funds we have on marketing instead of staff. Without their organizational skills and wide range of networking around the state they provide our marketing group could not be as effective.

Historic Southern Indiana provides a resource for our community to access when needed.  The program puts our community in touch with many other communities that provide information about their activities and this gives Harrison County leaders new ideas and opportunities to reach out to these other communities that have conducted successful projects.  Particularly, we contacted New Harmony about  the promotion of state historic sites and the sharing of resources with the private business community.

Historic Southern Indiana actually initiated the Scenic Byway program in Southern Indiana and continues to support the Ohio River Scenic Byway with administrative resources. Over the years the Byway group has helped to promote and preserve our communities.  We would have never achieved National Designation of the Byway without HSI.

Our Historical Society is now working with the USI internship program that was promoted through Historic Southern Indiana.

Because Harrison County has several Historic Properties, HSI promotes our community in the many publications they produce that explain the rich history of Southern Indiana. These various publications also give us an opportunity to promote our events well beyond our own area.

Historic Southern Indiana has recognized some of the good work of our residents and communities through their awards programs. Specifically Maxine Brown, Karen Schwartz, and the Town of Corydon have received recognition and a financial boost from the HSI award programs.
