CAP offers over 35 courses (list below) in participating high schools. As authorized by the Indiana Commission for Higher Education, certain liberal arts and career/technical education courses have been deemed priority courses. CAP tuition for these courses is $25 per credit hour; tuition for all other CAP courses is $80 per credit hour as it has been since 2004. Students who qualify for the free/reduced lunch program will receive a tuition waiver for CAP courses, pending eligibility verification and if indicated during the application process.
CAP courses can not only be used at USI but also have a high rate of transferability to other institutions. Over half of the USI courses offered through CAP are also part of the Indiana Core Transfer Library (CTL). The CTL was created to help families determine how college credits transfer among Indiana public institutions, as well as some independent colleges and universities.
How to use the Indiana Core Transfer Library
1. Visit www.transferin.net/transfer-resources/transfer-databases/core-transfer-library
2. Use the drop-down menu under Institution to filter by college or university, AND/OR
3. Use the CTL Name to filter by course name (see list below)
4. To remove the filter, either click on 'Clear Filters' or de-select the college or course in the drop-down menu
The CTL Name is a common name to cover the variety of course names throughout the state. All of the courses shown for a CTL course name are equivalent courses at the respective institution. For example, USI's ENG 101, Rhetoric and Composition I: Literacy & the Self is found under the CTL course title of English Composition 1. All institutions showing an equivalent course should transfer the USI course, as long as it's completed with a grade of C or higher.
If you do not see your prospective college or university, or have questions about the Notes category, contact the Registrar's Office there to see how USI credit will be accepted before submitting your CAP application.
For complete course descriptions, click on the USI course titles within the chart, then click on the course name that appears in the USI Academic Bulletin.
