Each year USI produces a play that employs both professional actors and a professional stage manager to work alongside University students. The Repertory Project brings members of the Actors Equity Association, the professional union of stage actors and stage managers, to work within a unique professional training environment. This joint project creates unparalleled opportunities for students within USI's Performing Arts Department.
Creating professional opportunities for undergraduates
In every area of production, student designers and technicians are being mentored by guest artists and USI faculty, all of whom are theatre professionals with credits including New York, regional and touring theatre as well as television and film.
University of Southern Indiana students are able to include professional Actors Equity Association productions on their resumes even before graduating from USI — a distinction which puts the USI Performing Arts Department in league with some of the country's elite theatre programs.
Additionally, undergraduates may gain valuable points toward qualifying to join this exclusive and prestigious union.
