We have established a chapter of the national honors society in sociology, Alpha Kappa Delta (AKD). Our AKD chapter is called “Omicron” and membership is eligible to sociology majors with an overall GPA of 3.3. Along with current students, our chapter has faculty, who joined when they were sociology students, as members. Membership in AKD offers a subscription to Sociological Inquiry, the official journal of AKD. It also has funds for travel to present at national and regional sociological conferences. The chapter engages in various sociology-related events and activities on campus.
