About the James A. Sanders Gallery Fellowship
A one-year fellowship (two semesters) to support one or more students interested in exhibition design, publicity, curation, and management. Two to three fellowships may be awarded each year.
The fellow will spend one semester with the University Art Collection and one semester at the New Harmony Gallery of Contemporary Art. At each location, the fellow will be assigned a project that supports the mission of the organization. In addition, there are opportunities to learn different aspects of caring for an art collection and managing a non-profit art gallery. In the newly created Back Gallery at the New Harmony Gallery of Contemporary Art, a fellow may have the opportunity to curate their own exhibition. The fellow is required to complete a journal that describes the project and experiences of the fellowship.
The fellowship funds three credit hours of tuition per semester for the required enrollment in ART 399. Fellows working in the New Harmony Gallery of Contemporary Art also receive a stipend for travel to and from New Harmony.
This fellowship connects you with art professionals in the region and aids in networking for future career opportunities.
