Evaluation of Measures to Promote Social Presence in Accelerated Online Courses

Faculty: Jeri Burger, Ph.D., RN

Social presence is the degree to which a student feels connected and feel they are interacting with a real person. Research shows student perception of social presence in online education improves student satisfaction and retention. Research has been conducted in various disciplines in full semester or quarter length classes. The purpose of this research study is to explore which instructional measures are associated with student perception of social presence in accelerated 7-week online RN-BSN classes.
