Description of Program
The Oncology Management Program covers a wide scope of information from cell biology to survivorship. The wide scope is necessary as oncology care has evolved beyond surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy.
Care for the patient and family requires a multifaceted approach by the interprofessional team to safely care for current clinical and future needs. The modules cover a vast amount of content concerning:

Who Should Enroll in this Program?
This program is designed for English-speaking nurses, pharmacists, physical therapists, physicians, and other healthcare providers who have interest in oncology.
Program Content
The content is divided into modules. Each module utilizes video recordings, reading assignments, articles, and web resources to augment the independent learning process. These methods provide the participant with flexibility in completing the study guide and the ability to ask the content expert questions if necessary. The modules cover biology of cancer, epidemiology, risk, prevention and screening, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, surgery therapy, emotional support of patients and family, oncologic complications, hospice and palliative care, and survivorship.
A textbook is required for this program. Upon registration, you will receive detailed information to purchase the textbook.
Program Schedule
This independent study program is available on demand. Completion of the program is required within one year of registration.
Learning Outcome
The learning outcome of the accredited continuing education activity is to enable the learner to successfully manage patients requiring oncologic care based on current therapeutic guidelines and best practice through interprofessional collaborative practice.

Delivery of Content
The content is delivered asynchronous via the online learning management system, Blackboard. The internet provides an opportunity for interaction with program faculty while in the comfort of learning in your own home and office. Program staff are available during business hours by phone or email to assist participants with technical issues or concerns.

Contact Hours
50 contact hours (6 hours specific to Pharmacotherapeutics)
The University of Southern Indiana designates this activity for 50 contact hours with 6 contact hours related to pharmacotherapeutics for nurses. Six hours of this content meets the pharmacology continuing education requirements for the renewal of the advanced practice registered nurse prescriptive authority license.
Successful completion of this program does not guarantee expertise in the content. Clinical experience and judgment coupled with an understanding of the content are necessary to attain competency. Achieving certification via a designated professional organization is an additional step to demonstrate competency.
Criteria for Successful Completion
The certificate of completion will be sent via email immediately upon the completion of the program evaluation.

Registration Policy
Completion of program is required within one year of registration.
Enrollment Cost
$700
The fee includes access to the program, along with all resources and handouts. A text, if applicable, is not included in the fee. There is a $25.00 fee to invoice. If registering by invoicing your employer, program access is granted after payment is received.
Refund Policy
A $50 administrative fee will be charged prior to accessing the program. No refund will be given after the program has been opened.
