Hypertension Management Program- On Demand

Description of program
Hypertension is a modifiable risk factor for stroke, myocardial infarction, heart failure, peripheral vascular disease, aortic dissection, atrial fibrillation, and end-stage kidney disease. The asymptomatic characteristic of hypertension can delay diagnosis and treatment. As the increasing risk of obesity and aging of the population, the incidence and prevalence of hypertension also rises. Effective management of hypertension requires an interprofessional and coordinated patient care approach. The program was designed utilizing the latest clinical guidelines and test plans for the certification examinations.

Information about the Cardiac-vascular nursing certification exam by the American Nurses Credentialing Center can be obtained at https://www.nursingworld.org/our-certifications/cardiac-vascular-nurse/.

Who Should Enroll in this Program?
The program is designed for English-speaking nurses, pharmacists, physical and respiratory therapists, physicians, educators, and other health care providers interested in gaining knowledge pertaining to the management of the disease of hypertension.

Program Content
The content is divided into modules. Each module utilizes audio/video recordings, reading assignments, articles, web resources, and case studies to augment the learning process. These methods provide the participant with flexibility in completing assignments and interacting with the faculty.  Each module has accompanying study guide(s) with questions (such as multiple choice, essay) for participants to submit to faculty.  Interaction with faculty may occur as feedback to study guides, or via email. The modules cover normal physiology, pathophysiology of systemic circulation, patient assessment, diagnostic tests, pharmacology, patient education, and patient management with considerations of age, gender, race/ethnicity.

A text is not required for this program.
