Interview with Mr. Kyle Fields, member of Romain College's Board of Advisors

Mr. Kyle Fields, VP SS&C and member of Romain College Board of AdvisorsMr. Kyle Fields '06 is Vice President & General Manager of Evansville, SS&C GlobeOp Fund Services. He joined SS&C in 2010 and started the Evansville, Indiana, office in March 2011. That office now has approximately 220 employees focusing on alternative assets including the global hedge, private equity, real estate and fund administration unit of SS&C GlobeOp Fund Services. Prior to SS&C, he worked for Mead Johnson and PricewaterhouseCoopers. Kyle earned his bachelor's degree in accounting from USI and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Kyle is a member of Romain College's Board of Advisors, composed of senior business leaders who are acquainted with the needs of the community and of commerce and have a strong interest in establishing and maintaining direct and effective communication between the business world and the business classroom.

What is your connection to USI, and what makes USI and the Romain College of Business special to you?
I graduated in May 2006; great experience and SS&C recruits heavily from the College.

From your prospective, what is unique about the Romain College of Business?
The accounting program amongst many others is top notch. 

Tell us about some of the highlights as you’ve advanced in your career path.
Living in various cities and working with people around the globe. Awarded the opportunity to start and grow the Evansville, IN, office.

As a member of our advisory board, what unique perspective do you bring?
A millennial that has lived and worked in various cities around the country.  Experience in financial software and services.

What attributes make a person successful in your industry?
Work ethic, networking, being competitive and staying focused. 

What is one thing you wish you knew when you were in college?
SS&C.

What advice would you give a recent college graduate?
Outwork your peers and you can never have a big enough network.

How would you finish this sentence: If I were back in college, I wish I would have gotten a better understanding of________________.
Financial securities.

What are some challenges you see your industry facing in the short-term and in the long-term?
Technology is ever evolving, and we have to evolve with it.

Who do you think are the most important/influential people in your industry today?
Our founder, chairman and CEO, Bill Stone.  Our President and COO, Rahul Kanwar.

A knockout list

What factors do you consider most often when planning for the future?
What opportunities/decisions will provide the longest runway.

What are you passionate about?
My family and friends. Also, passionate about business.
