Romain College Students Speak at 2016 IMA Student Leadership Conference

Two USI Romain College students were speakers at the 2016 IMA Student Leadership Conference in Detroit, Michigan. Senior accounting major Kyle Hoeing and MBA student Aaron McCullough talked about their experience in student business case competitions. Hoeing and McCullough are members of the USI team that competed in the final four in the national IMA student case competition in June, where they finished in second place. It is the tenth time a team from USI has qualified for the final four. USI is one of only two universities to have won the prestigious IMA competition five times.

As members of the Evansville chapter of IMA, Hoeing and McCullough spoke of the benefits of having an IMA student chapter on campus, like USI's Accounting & Professional Services (APS) club and Beta Alpha Psi (BAP) honorary organization. Other participants at the conference were accounting majors Ryan Clark, a senior, and BAP president-elect, and junior Caleb Grammer, BAP treasurer.

John Fikany, VP Strategy & Development, Quicken Loans, and formerly of Microsoft, was key note speaker at the conference. Attendees had the opportunity to network with corporate representatives from Cummins, AstraZeneca, Vanguard, Quicken Loans, Johnson & Johnson, FDIC, FBI, and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Some offered on-site job interviews. Representatives from master's and doctoral programs as well as CPA and CMA course review vendors such as GLEIM, Becker, and Surgent were also on site.
