Romain College and Liberal Arts Collaborate on Professional Networking Event

Kristina Walker and Renee Rowland, directors of advising for the Romain College of Business and College of Liberal Arts, respectively, organized the first joint professional networking event for business and liberal arts majors. The goal was to create a collaborative event between the two colleges to develop the students' peer and professional networks.

A panel of seven professionals with business or liberal arts degrees spoke individually about the steps they’ve taken along their career paths and how their degree positioned them for their chosen fields. Panelists, some of whom were USI alumni, were from a wide range of careers, including finance, graphic design, academics, and fundraising.  They shared advice on academic choices and gave insights into their career fields and other professional opportunities.

After the panel discussion, students engaged in one-on-one networking with the panelists. "Networking isn't just creating connections," said Garrett Craig, a public relations and advertising major. "It's the visualization of what your future career looks like."
