Dr. Brian McGuireDr. Brian L. McGuire, Associate Dean of USI’s Romain College of Business, received Beta Alpha Psi’s 2016 Outstanding Faculty Advisor Award at its Annual Meeting in Baltimore on August 4, 2016.  According to Beta Alpha Psi (BAP), its Faculty Advisors often work many additional hours to be present at various BAP meetings, community service activities, firm receptions, member initiations, and to meet with chapter officers to plan for the months ahead.

RSM LLP, which is the annual sponsor of the Outstanding Faculty Advisor Award, presents the global award each year at the BAP Annual Meeting to five faculty advisors who go above and beyond the requirements of a faculty advisor. Not only are the recipients recognized in front of their chapters and peers, which included over 1,200 registrants at this year’s BAP Annual Meeting, but each recipient also receives a plaque and a $5,000 cash award from RSM in recognition of his or her great achievements.

Dr. McGuire was recognized for his dedicated service to USI’s Beta Alpha Psi Chapter and for his service to BAP on a regional level, where he helped USI’s chapter serve as co-host of the Midwest Regional Meeting in two prior years. In addition, he was recognized for his service to BAP on the global level, where he previously served as BAP’s Director of Administration and Development and as a member of its Board of Directors.

In addition, Dr. McGuire was recognized for his ongoing service to the Accounting Profession. He currently serves as a member of the International Accounting Education Standards Board (IAESB), as a member of AACSB International’s Associate Deans Affinity Group (ADAG) Board of Directors, as a member of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) Board of Directors, and as a member of AACSB International’s Accounting Accreditation Committee (AAC). In addition, he previously served as President of the Board of Trustees for the Institute of Certified Management Accountants (ICMA), as Chair of the Board of Directors for the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), and as President of the Board of Trustees for the IMA Research Foundation.

“I feel truly honored to be a recipient of the Beta Alpha Psi Outstanding Faculty Advisor Award, especially given my great admiration and appreciation of Beta Alpha Psi and the positive impact it has on its members and the accounting profession,” McGuire said. “I am appreciative for the nomination by our students at the University of Southern Indiana, and I thank them for their determination and accomplishments that help make us a “Superior Chapter” year after year.”
