Congratulations to Caitlin Chestnut, Joe Thouvenot, and Abby Bridges for being named finalists in the 2016 Conference of State Bank Supervisors Community Bank Case Study Competition.  Teams from universities throughout the country entered the competition, and to qualify for the finals, each team prepared an original case study including a 25-page paper and a 10-minute video analyzing the impact of small business lending activities of a local community bank. Business student, Ben Peyronnin, assisted in producing the video.

2016 CSBS Team

USI invited First Federal Savings Bank to be its subject bank for this competition.  CEO Mike Head '80 and a team of executives from First Federal met with the USI students several times, providing valuable input for the analysis.  Head is also a member of the Romain College's Board of Advisors.

The USI team now enters the final judging round in which all finalists' case studies and videos will be evaluated by experts in banking regulation, financial institutions and academia.  The winner will be announced on May 26, and will present its case study findings at the 2016 Federal Reserve System/Conference of State Bank Supervisors annual community banking conference in the fall of 2016.

Congratulations, Team USI and faculty advisor Charles Kelly, on making it to the finalist stage.  We wish them the best of luck in the final round of judging.
