A team from the University of Southern Indiana’s Romain College of Business competed in the 2015 Royal Roads University International Undergraduate Case Competition (RRUIUCC) held March 19-21 in Victoria, British Columbia.
The team members were Alicia Bowling, Caleb Mathers, Brooke Neuhoff, Jacob Titzer, and Morgan Stierley, who served as an alternate. They were coached by Romain College of Business faculty member Jamie Seitz.
Twenty universities are invited to participate, and the USI team was one of only two from the United States. Other teams were from universities in Canada and Ireland.
The competition format features blind judging in a round-robin tournament consisting of four business cases. Teams present strategic choices and a detailed plan of action to a panel of judges composed of senior business executives from a variety of business backgrounds. At the end of the first three cases, the total accumulated score by each team determines the top four teams that will compete in the final case study.

USI’s team members dedicated much time and effort to this commitment. “We started weekly practices in January that demanded much time from these already busy students,” said Jamie. Their dedication showed, according to Brooke, “after delivering the best presentation out of all our practices and being commended by one of the judges, who has a reputation for being the toughest.”
Students also took advantage of the opportunity to network with like-minded individuals from other countries.
Brooke thanked the Romain College of Business for sponsoring the team. She described her experience as “phenomenal.” She added, “I consider myself fortunate to have been a member of this motivated, cooperative, hard-working, and spirited team. My education and business professionalism were truly enhanced from participating in this competition.”
Jamie said, “Our team competed very well and learned so much about international business and themselves during this process. I have no doubt these students will go on to do some amazing things and represent the University well.”
