A special guest speaker for Dr. Marie Bussing's spring 2013 Money and Banking class was Detective Robert Wies. Detective Wies, heads the financial crimes unit for the Evansville Police Department. He spoke to the class on different types of financial crimes, including check fraud, credit card fraud, and counterfeit currency. After class, Detective Weis shared some advice on ways to protect against identity theft and fraud.
Weis made his first visit to the Money and Banking class in spring 2012, outlining emerging trends in financial schemes. Along with financial fraud, additional topics covered throughout the semester included financial markets, financial institutions, the Federal Reserve System, central banking, history of commercial banking, and monetary policy.
