About the Speaker

WENDY L. WRIGHT, DNP, FNP-BC, ANP-BC, FAANP, FAAN, FNAP

Back by popular demand, we are excited to welcome back Dr. Wendy Wright to the Pharmacology Update for Healthcare Professionals!

Dr. Wright received her Doctor of Nursing Practice in 2019 from the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, her Adult Primary Care Nurse Practitioner from Simmons College in Boston in 1992 and completed a family nurse practitioner post-master’s program in 1995.  She is an adult and family nurse practitioner and the owner of two, nurse practitioner owned and operated clinics within New Hampshire.  Her family practices have won numerous awards, including Top Providers in New Hampshire 2020, Top 20 Fastest Growing Family Business, and Top 20 Women-Owned Business in New Hampshire.  In addition, she is the Owner of Partners in Healthcare Education, a medical education company.  She is the Past President of NPACE and the Senior lecturer for Fitzgerald Health Education Associates.

She is the founder of the NH Chamber of Entrepreneurial Nurse Practitioners, an organization designed to assist nurse practitioners with independent practice issues.  In addition to full-time clinical practice, she presents nationally to different audiences and has been a speaker at over 1000 conferences in 47 states.  She is the nurse practitioner representative to the State of NH Immunization Advisory Board.  She has been a medical media spokesperson for numerous companies and has appeared on radio, television, and in print magazines.  In October 2020, Dr. Wright was featured in the Wall Street Journal for her Nurse Practitioner Led Clinics and the care they provide.  She is frequently consulted by malpractice attorneys around the area of clinical practice and has worked on more than 100 malpractice cases involving nurses and nurse practitioners.

AGENDA

Program Description
This all-day workshop focuses on updating clinical pharmacology knowledge. Appropriate for pharmacists, physicians, physician assistants, nurses, and advance practice nurses in clinic and acute care settings, a variety of sessions will review the latest pharmacotherapeutic guidelines.  Participants will have an opportunity to review new therapies for the treatment of common chronic diseases, review the pharmacology and clinical use of select drugs, and discuss pain management and opioids

Target Audience
The target audience includes nurses, advanced practice registered nurses, pharmacists, physicians, physician assistants, students enrolled in health professional educational programs and other health professionals interested in treatment management and pharmacotherapeutic considerations.

7.0 contact hours (7.0 hours specific to Pharmacotherapeutics, 2.0 hours specific to Opioids)

The University of Southern Indiana designates this activity for 7.0 contact hours with 7.0 contact hours related to pharmacotherapeutics for nurses and meets the pharmacology continuing education requirements for the renewal of the advanced practice registered nurse prescriptive authority license.

2 contact hours specific to opioid, nonopioid, and nonpharmacologic content for painful conditions.

The University of Southern Indiana Center for Health Professions Lifelong Learning designates this knowledge based Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) activity for 7.0 contact hours for completion of this program.
