RETURNING TO A LIVE EVENT FOR 2022!

This continuing education program will explore the ethical dilemmas faced by dental practitioners and the values involved in understanding and deliberating these dilemmas. Specifically, the core values of trust, responsibility and service will be discussed within a pluralistic framework derived from real-world case examples. Indiana statutes and Indiana administrative rules governing the licensure and practice of dentists and dental hygienists will also be presented.

Accreditation Statements
In support of improving patient care, the University of Southern Indiana is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to provide continuing education for the health care team.

The University of Southern Indiana is an approved provider for CE credits by the Indiana Health Professions Bureau and will provide contact hours for this program. The program content meets the 2 hour ethics and professional responsibility continuing education requirements for the renewal of dentist and dental hygienist license in Indiana.

The University of Southern Indiana is an approved provider of continuing education for several professionals licensed in the state of Indiana, including social workers, marriage and family therapists, psychologists, occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, and dental professionals.

Attendees will receive 3 contact hours with completed program evaluation.

Michele S. Bryant, Partner, Dinsmore & Shohl LLP

A lawyer for more than three decades, Michele remains true to the core values of her practice: provide excellent legal skills responsively and efficiently to clients. Whether advocating for a client, providing legal counsel about disputes and business decisions, or dealing with an adversary, she maintains a professional and courteous demeanor, actively listens, and takes pride in meticulous preparation. She has experience defending claims against medical professionals at all levels from allied health professionals to physicians in hospital, private practice, senior living, and prison settings. This includes nurses, dentists, nurse practitioners, and mental health professionals. She also represents health care facilities such as hospitals, nursing homes, and rehabilitation centers. She is a multi-year Indiana Super Lawyer award winner in medical malpractice defense. As a health care lawyer, Michele advises medical facilities and medical practices on a wide range of employment and regulatory issues. On the employment front, Michele provides counsel on physician recruitment, contracting and compensation, professional licensure, credentialing and peer review, and impaired or disruptive professionals. Her regulatory focus includes bylaws and policies, patient privacy, hospital medical staff matters, fraud and abuse, and risk reduction programs. She speaks on topics including medical documentation and trial tactics. Michele assists with training programs for medical school residents, nurses, and social workers on legal issues applicable to their professional development. Her litigation experience is not limited to medical negligence claims. She also represents businesses, individuals, and insurance companies in a wide variety of matters including accidents, civil rights actions, and contract disputes.

  • Register and pay
  • Participate in at least 90% of live event
  • Complete program evaluation which may include questions to assess your knowledge of the content. An email containing the certificate of completion will be sent immediately after completing the program evaluation.
