I fell in love with USI during one of the Southern Hospitality Days. The campus is beautiful, and I knew then that I wanted to attend USI. During my time there I was heavily involved in the engineering department where I was a member of IEEE and Society of Women Engineers along with being a professor's assistant in the freshman labs. I loved being a member of the clubs and was thrilled to be a member of the IEEE team that won a robotics competition for the first time in university history. After graduating I accepted a job with Aleris International (now Commonwealth Rolled Products) as an electrical engineer for the entire plant. I love my job and find a lot of joy in being able to work in different departments on all the equipment needed to make rolled aluminum coils. My time at USI helped to develop a good foundation for my career. I still make it out to campus to run on the trails with my son and get together with the friends I made during my schooling.

I am Cindy Mauro and I am a proud alum of USI. I received a Bachelor of Science in Geology (with a minor in Creative Writing) in 2016, where, after a year of waiting, I pursued my first graduate degree at East Carolina University. After graduating from ECU, I worked as an Earth Science teacher at Pine Lake Preparatory in Mooresville, NC, for a year before the tragic loss of my fiance in June 2020. I am currently working as a department clerk at the Venango County Human Services Administration in northwestern Pennsylvania. I am planning to go back to graduate school in the near future to pursue a PhD in Geology where I hope to end up teaching and conducting research at a university that pursues and upholds the same ideals and values as USI.

                                                    Erika Maurer (McCormick) '16 M '18

Hello, my name is Erika Maurer. I was born and raised in Southern Indiana. My family and I currently live about 2 miles from the USI campus and enjoy all the campus has to offer on a weekly basis, mostly the USI trail! Even though you might assume I'm a Hoosier fan, I'm actually a HUGE Notre Dame fan, GO IRISH! I started working as the Human Resources Coordinator for ProRehab INC in April of 2019 (two years down, forever to go)! Prior to ProRehab INC, I worked as the Human Resources Generalist at a private orthopaedic practice in town (one of our biggest referral sources). I now provide Human Resource support for four Confluent companies, ProRehab INC, ProRehab Louisville, SporTherapy and OSPTKY. Believe it or not, I met my husband at USI and now we both work for ProRehab INC. He is a practicing PTA, going back to school to become a PT at Hanover College in Indiana. Very excited for him to be the first graduating DPT class! We have the most loving 75 pound golden doodle, Rudy and hoping to add to the family in a few years. I obtained my undergraduate degree at USI in Exercise Science then continued my education at USI and obtained my MBA with concentration in Human Resources and Health Care Admin shortly after. I enjoy staying very active in my spare time and traveling to new places. My goal is to complete 50 marathons in all 50 states. I have 10 states done (Indiana, Tennessee, South Carolina, Georgia, Missouri, Ohio, Alabama, Mississippi, Oklahoma, and Kentucky). Along with running, I absolutely love to swim and completed my first Ironman in May of this year. It was an experience of a life time. I bleed red and blue - labeled a screagle for life!

Teacher Education

                                                              Whitney Mosier '18

Hello! My name is Whitney Pannebaker (Mosier) and I attended USI from 2014-2018. I dual majored in special education and elementary education. while there, I was an AMIGO, Student Ambassador, and a member of the Pott College Student Advisory Board, as well as a few others. I loved my time at USI! Since then, I have gotten married to my husband Ryan. I began my teaching career in 1st grade. I quickly realized that 1st grade was not where the Lord wanted me, so I moved to 4th. I taught there for 2 years and decided that still wasn't my niche, so I moved to special education as an inclusion teacher. I have finally found my spot, and I love this position dearly. Although my first three years were tough, I am so thankful for everything I learned in those roles because I would not be the teacher I am today without those experiences.

                                                                Alexa Amos ‘18

I’m Alexa Amos. I graduated from USI in 2018 with a double major in Elementary and Early Childhood Education. After graduation, I got a job with EVSC and I have been here for four years now! I’ve loved getting to know all of the students and families that I’ve met along the way.

                                                           Alexis Pflug '21

I graduated from USI in May of 2021 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Elementary Education with a Reading minor. I am now currently working for EVSC at Evans School. While at USI, I served on the SAB for all four years. Being apart of SAB was a great experience that I am truly glad to have been apart of. I learned so much through the board about advocating for the students of Pott College in order to make their experience at USI the best it could be.
