Program Educational Objectives & Student Outcomes - Civil Engineering
Within 5 years of graduation, USI Civil Engineering graduates will
- Obtain employment in the civil engineering field and seek out positions having significant professional responsibility and increased leadership, mentoring, and management responsibilities during their careers.
- Attain engineering licensure and/or other professional certifications as appropriate to their career path.
- Continue to acquire new knowledge and advance their career through activities such as participation in professional societies, attainment of advanced degrees, and/or continuing education endeavors.
The USI BSCE Student Outcomes align with the ABET General Criterion 3 "1 through 7," as shown below:
- An ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics.
- An ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors.
- An ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences.
- An ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economics, environmental, and societal contexts.
