Master of Arts in English Goes Fully Online in Fall 2021
The University of Southern Indiana is pleased to announce the approval to offer another program online. Beginning Fall of 2021, the Master of Arts in English (MAE) will be offered 100% online.
The offerings within Online Learning are convenient and flexible for adult learners and those who currently have full time jobs, families, and other daily responsibilities. In particular, the MAE is designed to prepare teachers who either wish to teach dual credit courses in high school classrooms or professors who wish to teach composition and literature classes in two-year and four-year institutions of higher education.
When asked about what the Master of Arts in English entailed, Dr. Amy Montz, Associate Professor of English, had this to say about the program:
"In USI's Master of Arts in English Program, you enter into the richness of literature, of writing, and of higher-ed teaching. The program offers a unique blend of classes to attract whatever interest in English you may have: creative writing, rhetoric and writing, literature of the West and Non-Western World, and teaching both composition and literature at the post-secondary level."
"The chance to write advanced academic prose and engage with theoretical underpinnings prepares you for critical reading, critical writing, and critical thinking needed in various careers. Students engage in conference-length papers, short stories, multi-media projects, and research papers, among others, to discuss with their professors and their like-minded colleagues the importance of the material at hand."
Benefits of the online Master of Arts in English at USI go beyond convenience and flexibility. Students will earn their degree after just 33 credit hours. Within these courses, students will explore a broad range of topics such as:
- American Literature
- British Literature
- World Literature
- Writing Studies
- Advanced Theory
- And other electives!
The MAE offers admission to the program every Fall, Spring, and Summer. A full calendar can be found on the MAE website.
