USI to host finalists at 39th annual Hagemann Awards for Musical Performance Concert

The University of Southern Indiana’s Philip H. Hagemann Performing Arts Department announces the 39th annual Hagemann Awards for Musical Performance Concert, a competition for Posey County, Indiana, high school students, which will take place at 7 p.m. July 12 in Murphy Auditorium in New Harmony, Indiana.  

This year’s finalists include: 

  • Brenna Julian, Piano, a junior from Mt. Vernon 
  • Renee Bippus, Voice, a graduating senior from Mt. Vernon
  • Isaiah McFadden, Tenor Saxophone, a graduating senior from Mt. Vernon
  • Sydney Friedman, Marimba, a graduating senior from Mt. Vernon

Each of the finalists will play a 20-minute portion of the concert. The top scoring performer will receive an $800 award and a $2,000 Alexander Scholarship (not affiliated with USI). The remaining finalists will receive a $400 award.  

Both the concert and reception are free and open to the public.
