USI Theatre will present The Odd Couple (female version) in February

2/5/2002 | University Communications
The USI Theatre will open its third play of the season, Neil Simon’s delightful comedy The Odd Couple (female version), on February 13, 2002.

Directed by Elliot Wasserman, associate professor of theatre, the female version of the play depicts the lives of two friends who are complete opposites and cannot tolerate each other’s habits. Olive Madison, portrayed by Rai Stovall, and Florence Unger, portrayed by Kim Robbins, are brought together as roommates to help each other work through life’s problems, despite their night and day differences.

Olive and Florence are surrounded by their friends, Mickey (Tara Kannall), Vera (Katie Johansson), Sylvie (Amanda Grube) and Renee (Erin Bent). The girls play Trivial Pursuit and Olive and Florence meet up with the Costazuela brothers Manolo (Jason Rudd) and Jesus (Matt Gordon).

Neil Simon, producer, playwright, and screenwriter, wrote the original The Odd Couple. Simon also wrote other plays such as Last of the Red Hot Lovers, The Sunshine Boys, The Good Doctor, I Ought to Be in Pictures, and Biloxi Blues.

The Odd Couple (female version) opens February 13 at 7 p.m. and also runs February 14 at 7 p.m., February 15 - 16 at 8 p.m., February 20-21 at 7 p.m., February 22-23 at 8 p.m., and February 24 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $9 for adults, $7 for senior/student, and $3 for USI students.
