Student registration is recommended but not required to attend the Internship and Career Fair. Register through Career Launch
(held both fall and spring)
Students of all majors and grade levels are encouraged to attend each semester. New students can use the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the format of career fairs. In the second and third years, students should plan to attend to meet with potential internship employers. Seniors should attend to acquire full-time job opportunities. Recruiters prefer meeting students in person. So students who attend career fairs will have greater odds of acquiring top internships.
Career Services and Internships hosts several Career Fairs on campus each year. The purpose of these fairs is to connect students with employers.
- Students should dress professionally in slacks/skirt and a nice shirt or business suit. First impressions matter.
- Plan early to ask off work for the day and check your class schedule. Talk to your professors, many will allow an excused absence to attend the career and internship fair.
- We strongly recommend having your resume reviewed before the fair by our career coordinators. They have appointments available all semester leading up to the fair. Don't wait until the last minute as slots will fill up quickly. Contact Career Services and Internships to schedule an appointment at 812-464-1865 or view availability and schedule on Career Launch.

- Potential career opportunities - Employers come to the fair specifically to recruit USI students for jobs and internships. They will have information about their current openings, which should also be listed on Career Launch so you can do your research before the fair.
- Networking - Employers like meeting students face to face. This is your chance to shine! It is sometimes hard to get an interview at the most desirable companies, but everyone gets a chance to chat with employers at a career fair.
- Attending the fair is a great way to get in a professional frame of mind. You will have the chance to dress professionally, introduce yourself to others, hear some of the questions employers and students are asking each other. This can help give you insight into how to prepare for a formal interview.
- Talk to employers and find out if there are any classes you should be taking to prepare for a future in their industry.
- Even if you know where you will be working following graduation, it doesn't hurt to network with other companies and employers. You never know when opportunity will come knocking.
