Interesting info

Tall plant with bright yellow flowers is easy to spot in the lower areas of the woods.

Its sandpaper-like leaves are very stiff.

This plant is similar to yellow crownbeard, which blooms in May and June. The plant and flower are noticeably larger than the small wood sunflower, which will bloom later.

Height: 2' - 4'

Frequency: Common and conspicuous in low but dry areas of woods.

Blooms: July to August

Range: Common in most of Indiana.

Also found from Maine to Manitoba and from Florida to Louisiana.
