Interesting info

The swamp rose is one of the showiest flowers of the preserve.

The rose bush grows on a small hummock in the cypress swamp, about five feet from the boardwalk.

Watch for the flowers to come into bloom during the last two weeks of June.

You ought to know

Height: Bush grows to 8' or more

Frequency: Only one plant known in cypress swamp, next to the boardwalk

Blooms: June

Range: Found throughout Indiana, but more common in lake area.

Found from Nova Scotia to Minnesota and from Florida to Mississippi.
