Interesting info

The five long petals of Indian physic are distinctive.

Judging by the common names, someone evidently used this plant for medicinal purposes.

Leaf structure is similar to cinquefoil.

The yellow flower in this picture is some sort of evening primrose (Oenothera sp.).

You ought to know

Height: Sprawling stem to 3' or more

Frequency: Found infrequently in low, drier areas of the woods.

Blooms: May to June

Range: Reaches its northern limit in southern Indiana. Found infrequently in dry soil, but Deam notes that the plant is found "in the post oak flats" of southwestern Posey County.

Also found from New York to Michigan and from Georgia to Missouri.
