Tall, bushy pokeweed so dominates the upper trail that I call that area the "pokeweed forest."

The small white flowers produce deep purple berries in late summer.

People have used the young greens in "pokesalad," but the roots are poisonous.

Birds love the berries but these may be poisonous also, especially to children.
