This attractive plant mingles with poison ivy on the forest floor and often climbs the same trees. The leaves turn a beautiful scarlet in the fall.

Some folks call this plant "poison oak" and steer clear of it, but the leaves are not toxic to the touch. Poison oak (Toxicodendron toxicarium) is not found in Indiana.

Also known as five-finger-ivy.
